This section of HawaiianIslands.IO was created to review popular snorkeling locations throughout Hawaii. We did our best to provide an accurate description, experiences, and the exact locations using Google Maps. The Big Island and Maui offer the best snorkeling, but you can still have a fantastic time snorkeling on the other islands.
The Big Island
Big Island of Hawaii offers the best snorkeling of all the Hawaiian Islands and is considered to be one of the best locations in the world. The majority of the snorkeling locations are along the West side of the island and almost all spots are accessible from shore. You will encounter healthy Coral, Tropical Fish, Sea Turtles, Manta Rays, Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins, and perfect snorkeling depths.
Maui
Snorkeling on Maui is a fantastic and memorable experience. Snorkelers will have easy beach access to some of the best snorkeling locations, swim with Green Turtles at almost every location, experience perfect water depths, stunning tropical fish, and beautiful healthy coral.
Molokini
Molokini, located several miles offshore from Maui, is a volcanic crater island. While snorkeling inside this crescent crater island, you will notice incredibly clear water, tropical fish, and corals. The water is so clear, snorkelers can usually see 50+ feet. This location easily accessible by boat from Maui.
Lānaʻi
The Hawaiian Island Lānaʻi (Lanai The Pineapple Isle) is less than 10 miles west of Maui and is easy accessible by boat and snorkel tours.
Oʻahu
Oahu offers good snorkeling, but when compared to The Big Island or Maui, Oahu just cannot compete. With more than 6 times the population of the next most populated island and with more than 2 times the tourism, the sea life has sustained substantial damage. Oahu will still bring joy and excitement to snorkelers, surfers, and swimmers.
Kauaʻi
Snorkeling on Kauaʻi (Kaui The Garden Isle) is an amazing adventure. Kauaʻi has many snorkeling locations that are easily accessible, free, and will provide an outstanding experience. This island has plenty of coral, tropical fish, and some of the largest Sea Turtles snorkelers have ever experienced.
