Lanikai Beach, Oʻahu, hawaii

Finding decent snorkeling locations on the east side of Oahu is challenging due to the trade winds. Thanks to protective reefs and preferred water depths, Lanikai Beach is a fantastic location to snorkel. Parking maybe difficult since this beach is located in front of a high-end neighborhood, therefore we recommend arriving early to find parking and to avoid the strong trade winds.

We recommend snorkeling between the beach access locations near Kaiolena Dr. and Mokumanu Dr.. If you check out our bottom most Google Map, the recommended snorkeling area is to the east of the Lanikai Beach Pin or directly in front. We also recommend exploring the area since this is a beautiful beach and filled with tropical life. You can expect to see Butterflyfish, Dascyllus, Gregory, Parrotfish, Sergeant, Surgeonfish, Tang, Wrasse, Coral, and maybe a Sea Turtles.
